Ok...this is just my crazy addition to the other theories whizzing about the room. I think Jareth asked Mizumi to create the ablation to make Sarah forget her childhood fantasies because she's pulling him into her dreams (reference the first scene in book 2 when Jareth slumps against the door in his room and says "Sarah, what do you want from me?". It seems that her memories and desires are draining Jareth of his power since he has no power over her. So he creates the ablation as a temporary patch for him to use his powers (or perhaps it's just to slow the loss of said powers) and to figure out a way to get Sarah to love him so he can get his magic back so he can be his normal, swaggering, glittery self. He dumps Moppet because she's not really useful to him in her current form and he may have played with her as getting insight to Sarah's wants in a lover.

That's my 2 cents. I may as well wait until the 12th for the book to come out, but even then all the answers are probably in volume 4. Volume 3 will end up asking more questions.

Ooooo the suspence!

'I’m a poster on ONTD_Twatlight on LJ. It’s so amazing.'

Funny you should mention Live Journal. Last night I had the WORST experience I have ever had on livejournal in my life. I joined a group for Harry Dresden / Bob Slash fan fiction of The Dresden Files TV series. Nothing really graphic, just stuff that implies that they were more than just friends (in the show they really are just friends). And I'd been lurking there for quite a while when I saw someone posted a fan fiction very similiar to one I had posted on another forum. I'm not easily offended by immitation or borrowed ideas. I'm pretty laid back about that. So I decided I might as well post my own story which was extremely similar and a few others. I followed all their rules and guide lines carefully (Something I admittedly tend to not do so this was a real effort for me). I posted seven short fictions that night. Next thing I knew I had a nasty, nasty E-mail from 'the mods' (They spoke as one like The Borg on Star Trek). And 'they' said that I was spamming the group so they were going to delete ALL of my fiction. When I replied telling them that I hadn't realized there was a posting limit they said that there technically isn't one but they also felt my fictions were not on theme. And it's a one strike you're out policy. 'In twenty four hours we'll decide your fate when we have cooler heads.' They also told me to not try to turn them against each other and the deleting of my fictions was a 'group effort' of the mods. I was like: 'Woah! When did I try to turn you against each other?' Also considering that my fictions hadn't been up long enough to have actually been read AND considering my stories were extremely similar to ones that I'd seen their regulars posted I realized there was definite favourtism going on.

I chose to leave rather than wait to find out my sentence for being a n00b. I went through extreme efforts to try to follow their rules, including learning the obnoxious cutting and HTML codes for livejournal (which I hate) only for fictions that took me days to write to be called spam and deleted within five minutes of being posted! I'm pretty well known in the Dresden Files TV show fan communities and I had NEVER, EVER been treated so poorly by any of them in my life. I was actually really hurt. Every Dresden fan I spoke to about it told me that they felt I had stumbled into a clique that probably felt threatened by my presence.

Sorry to rant about that but I felt like venting and I'm very caffeinated right now.

-----------------------

'To other matters: Rocky Horror - they’re making that awful remake still! There is a petition going around, but I don’t think that’ll do much of anything. But, I hope it shows MTV that it doesn’t need to be made.'

I wince every time I hear about this... It's one thing to have a new cast for the Broadway revivals (Terrence Mann was fantastic as Dr. Frank and Daphne Rubin Vega as Magenta... Wow!) but to redo the movie... NO!

'Umm… Did I just make a reference to something?
What exactly is Velvet Goldmine?'

Velvet Goldmine, in 1999 a 'fictionalized' version of David Bowie's life story was made into a film called Velvet Goldmine (named after an obscure David Bowie song). They changed the names of all the characters as to make it seem like a work of fiction but it was definitely Bowie's life through the seventies. Jonathan Rhys Meyers played Brian (based on Bowie) and Ewan McGragor played Curt Wilde (based on Iggy Pop). Anyway, all they really change is that the famous red Ziggy Stardust Mullet is now blue. And there's a scene near the end where he's in glittering green make up.

There's also Boz, the character Bowie played for a video game released that same year. He looked a lot like what you described.
