He was a Wizard with the power of a God…
She was the essence of beauty, forged in darkness…
He (not the first he, another he) was the greatest bard of his age…
It was a robot, programmed to kill…
Wizards vs. Robots…
No matter who loses… we win.
Admit it – you want to know more.
Overture:
10,000 years ago, in the Age of Wizards, one man had power beyond all others. His name was Tholius Grunch. With a word he could bring down a king. With two words, he could bring down an empire. With a sentence he could destroy a planet. During the Great Wizard War, all of the other wizards, as well as their allies, the Wizard Cousins, merged their arcane energies in order to rid the world of Grunch once and for all. They teleported the God Wizard into a chamber deep beneath the Earth – a chamber with no entrances, no connection to the surface world at all. Glowing hot magma would be his only friend… if he survived. And thus began the era of a thousand peaces, in which the need for magic did die away. Eventually Grunch himself was forgotten, which brings us to…
Prologue:
After being trapped beneath the earth for 9,980 years, Tholius Grunch became bored. His enemies’ plan had worked all too well, for even with the power of a god, he could not escape his chamber. And so it was the he decided to create a companion – a daughter. And she was beautiful.
THOLIUS GRUNCH:
“You are my greatest creation… and yet I fear, you will be my downfall…”
Act 1:
It is the present, the Age of Bards, and one man has skill beyond all others. His name is Orpheus Rex. One night, after entertaining the Sultan and his harem, Orpheus retreats to the sacred spring, where, under the light of a full moon, he sees her. She is beauty incarnate. Is she real, or just a vision? 20 years old, and naïve as a butterfly. She disappears.
ORPHEUS REX:
“I have sung songs about men whose imaginations exceed all others, and in these songs, these men have imagined beauty beyond compare, and even the most imagineering men of my imagination could not imagine anyone as beautiful as you…”
The woman disappears… with a kiss… without a name. Orpheus Rex dedicates his life to finding this vision of beauty. Like his namesake, he descends into the underworld. With luck on his side… and love… and the dwarf army… and the aid of a friendly worm… he finds the chamber with no doors, and within, the tower of glass upon the lake of magma. And within that, he finds his true love, the nameless beauty, and he deflowers her on the spot.
But then! Tholius Grunch storms into the room, his brow furrowed as if upon those fleshy lids he carried the weight of the world, his eyes blazing hotter than the magma that carpeted his Pelucidarian home. He struck out his hands, his fingers long and rigid as the tines of a rake, and summoned his most deadly of spells – the Soul Sundering Bolt! Straight for the heart of Orpheus Rex it flew!
But love intervened.
The essence of beauty, the girl with no name, stepped in the way of the killing spell, taking the full brunt of its power in her oh-so-ample bosom.
THOLIUS GLAINE
Foul seducer! What have you made me do?!
The tower began to shake. Both men knew they would soon be dead… but Grunch was not about to let hot magma take away his revenge. He prepared another spell, even more powerful than the last – he would transport Orpheus to a distant future when all mankind was destroyed. Only then would the bard know what it was like to be truly alone.
As the bolt flew forth, Orpheus Rex could hear time itself ripping apart… but he could not dodge the spell.
And then darkness fell.
To be Continued…?

[...] I’m all for big dumb robot and wizard movies (hey, there’s a movie for you — Robots vs. Wizards!), but it seems as if there’s an unofficial mandate that if you’re going to have [...]
You’re a strange, strange man.
AHAHAHA!!! Reminds me of the end of Planet of the Apes II when Nova dies. And yes, I am nerdy enough to watch the Planet of the Apes movies. Though I’m not sure how Rex will defeat the Terminator. Seems very unlikely to me.
