So what if we’re nearing the end of March? I’m gonna make my resolutions now! With salaried employment in a creative position shaky, but my head bursting with ideas, this is no time for despair or desperation. Starting tomorrow, I will attack the writer’s life with new-found conviction and discipline.
In 2009, I resolve to:
- Finish Return to Labyrinth with a bang!
- Publish one short story with a reputable fiction outlet
- Complete at least two book length projects for pay
- Publish an original or for-hire comics story
- Post at least THRICE weekly on a secret blogging project
- Complete an original novel and find an agent and/or publisher
- Visit THREE countries
- Do all of the above while adding to my savings, not depleting them!
Is that too much to ask?

Go Jake! You can do it! Get out of that slump, and make the best of a bad situation!
Chin up, good sir! Remember what Churchill said! Er, well, before the BOMBING and all that.
Pip pip!
~Gatsby.
You can do it, Jake! We have faith in you!
And we’re all going to be here to make sure you keep your resolutions! (Especially on finishing RtL). Though I’m intrigued by the ’secret blogging project’…do we get any hints about what the project is (Is it any of our business?)
Aaaannnd If you’re looking for a country to visit, Canada’s right nearby ^_^. Just a tip though, if you don’t like spiders, stay out of Vancouver…they grow huge and there’s tons of them there! Though Lethbridge (Where I’m doing University) isn’t that much better…they may not grow as big, but there’s Brown Recluse and Black Widow’s here >_<
It’s awesome that your setting goals for yourself, Jake. I’ve never been good with resolutions. I’m still trying to give up soda from a new year’s resolution. It’s not doing so well… >.<
It must be exciting to release full length novels, by the way. The public need more satisfying novels anyway, to transition out of the Twilight craze.
Just had a thought Jake: I wonder if there’s a way for you to be a guest at the upcoming Calgary Comic Expo. It would make for a good excuse to come to Canada, plus you could plug RtL and the other series’ you’ve worked on.
It’s happening next month, so it might be too late to come, but you never know (And there’s always Otafest in May).
Can you tell I’d love to see you come to Canada? I’ll throw in some Tim Hortens to sweeten the deal!
What’s this I ear about a secret blog project? Planning on letting your Goblin.net fans in on it, I hope?
Yay! Plans for the future. As long as you have goals, who says you have to get them done now?
We all believe in you Jake! You give us a Labyrinth sequel, what could we give you in return?
(Besides being your fan and giving you a job.)
You still planning on doing the Labyrinth Short Stories and such?
one more resolution jake: ‘keeping in touch with ole friends better’…=P
hey, I know how it is with books for awhile I was working with Mothers House Publishing in Colorado Springs, then she informed me that my books where to fictionaly although I did have the talent, it wasn’t the type of book she’d publish. Anyway I’ve been working on a book series for 15 years now and it just keeps getting bigger, if you dont takle it, it will takle you. And with that I say good luck,
sincerly Melissa
