I think if you are cloning a human for the simple act of creating a human, an individual new person who is physically identical to a deceased one or living is fine. I'm not sure how they would make a baby if there aren't any humans around to reproduce, or at least get some cells from so that they can grow the baby the same way they do with cloning animals. But that would have started a whole uproar on the ethics of genetics and cloning human beings that I doubt Tim Burton would have wanted to deal with. I think that's too delicate of subject matter for a children's fantasy movie. Parents would go nuts over it, and not in a good way.
