Small Rectangular Objects that Make No BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEPS!

In a very special chapter of Return to Labyrinth Volume 4, Hana learns to read! Or something like that. You’ll have to wait 7 months to find out what she’s reading. :P

Book

And remember, angsty fairies aren’t the only ones who think reading is swell:

I’d love to know if there was any logic or planning behind that advert besides “David Bowie poses cool while reading a book”.

That said, is he supposed to be kneeling on an invisible step, or is he in mid-leap?

Then again, it has been shown that David Bowie can defy gravity, so maybe that’s what’s going on here ;)

  2. Ashley says:

I’m pretty sure my library had that poster up when I was little! Good times…
I love the blips from RTL 4…

  3. Rachel R says:

Ha, that’s hilarious! I’ve never seen that poster before, very cool.

Oh, and reminding me that I have to wait 7 months makes me very sad.

  4. Another Kelly says:

Hahaha, she’s probably reading the little red playbook “Read this screenplay to figure out how to win” that Sarah had. :P

  5. Tink says:

What’s the book David’s reading? It’s too small to see. Although I think that’s genuine interest: in the liner notes for the iSelectBowie he says he’s trying to think of one unused english word for each entry. Hopefully, there will be a quiz! ;)

  6. Kelly says:

Hana’s not learning to read, silly goose. How can you write threatening letters if you can’t read? ;)

Title reference is from my second favorite movie!

    • Jake Forbes says:

Okay, you’ve caught me. Hana already knows now to read.
As for the quote in the post title, yeah, my second favorite fantasy film too, and I especially liked that line growing up and working in a bookstore. :)

  7. Freak M says:

    love the post! thanks!

  8. The title of this post is a Neverending Story reference, right?

It’s obvious what she’s reading! It’s the latest copy of S#xy Pixie! Where else could she get those fab outfits?

  9. Ginger says:

Now see, why can’t my library have THAT poster up instead of the Twilight one?

  10. the freaks says:

    exactly!

  11. Darkfox says:

I think I know what she’s reading, but I’m not telling! :) I can’t wait for the fourth book!

  12. Kristi O. says:

Hana’s obviously reading Jake’s script for the last volume, even she can’t wait the 7 months for the release date (And besides, she needs to figure out what the heck she’s up to in the last volume, as well as make any “necessary” changes as she sees fit).

  13. Siiri says:

    Soooooo…July?

  14. Siiri says:

And David just looks so wrong in a football letterman’s coat. Ziggy Stardust ≠ jock.

  15. freak M says:

just to say, I’ve recorded the 1st part of the sims 2 thing… now filming… I’ going to be putting it on an other account…

  16. freak M says:

This is the official account that I will be posting the sims 2 RtL thing on…

  17. Mandy says:

I think it’s the original Labyrinth story / play Sarah was reading at the start of the original film.

  18. Marissa says:

Okay I’m still new to manga, but did anyone else notice that on the second panel there are two of Hannah? Is that to show action or are there really two Hannahs and? They also have two different faces….

    • Jake Forbes says:

      Marissa,
It’s not a manga thing, but in the comics medium, sometimes you can express movement or cause-and-effect relationships in one panel for the sake of efficiency. In this case, the intention is to show that Hana is flipping through the pages and not just reading one passage, which will hopefully come together when the dialog and context is all there.

I like to read, all the time! Doesn´t David Bowie looks handsome in that poster
?By the way,I love Neverending Story
(the book is better than the film, even if it´s a wonderful one).

  20. Mary says:

Ahahaha! That picture of Bowie cracked me up! God, what character (and babe) he is.

Great pic of Hana, too. Kudos to this manga for its awesomeness!
