This past week I started writing a new story completely unrelated to Labyrinth and I’m really excited to explore this new world more. It’s a little bit fantasy, a little bit horror and a little bit American history. I’m trying to straddle the line between a folk tale and a more contemporary ghost story. I’ve never written anything quite like this, so wish me luck!
In the meantime, here’s your weekly RTL4 preview pic. I’m not going to put this pic in any context, so you’ll have to use your imagination to figure out what exactly is going on.

My first thought was that this was maybe the Bog of Eternal Stench, but those four silhouettes don’t seem to be gagging in agony, so perhaps this is the forest that Sarah met the Firey’s in, and Mizumi has started to flood the Labyrinth or something.
That said, if it is the forest, Chris forgot to draw in the 10 tons of glitter that they coated the set with
Though I think the toner missed a little bit of the background in between the 2nd Goblin from the left’s legs.
I totally agree! xD
And I do see the missing toner, now that you mention it. Lol. I’m sure it’ll be fixed before hand since we noticed it. If not, oh well!
It reminds me of the scene from the music video ‘Thriller’ where all the corpses start to rise from the grave. But I doubt these gobblins are dead, and they’re just rising to dance with the Goblin King…
Or are they? :O
Bog? the first thing i thought was evolution… not that that has anything to do with the labyrinth……
Guessing by the ears I’d say they’re all related to Skub.
Yeah, they kinda remind me of his siblings.
I certainly do hope that isn’t the Bog of Eternal Stench they’re mucking through…
Well, it seems there is a variety in the size of these goblins. To tell the truth, the moment I saw this, I thought of the cell phone commercial (Sprint I think…) where it always shows bars lined up in a row in sequential heighth. “Raising the bar”
The shortest one in the back looks like it could be Skub. Or possibly one of the guard goblins we saw during the schism scene.
And my guess is that they are going to find the Prince of the Land of Stench (a.k.a. our dear little friend Hoggle).
My theory is that the Goblins have got hold of an old VCR player and an electricity generator, and started playing ‘The Creature From The Black Lagoon.’ They were so impressed, that they decided to pay homage to the ‘rising from the lake’ scene using the Bog as a substitute.
Okay, that’s my two cents. How close am I?
They really remind me of Skub’s brothers!
But hey I’d like to hear more about your new story! Be sure to let us know more about it when you can!
I say that it is skub’s family, maybe in the bog of stench? probably not!
Oh, and the best of luck to you, Jake. I meant to mention it in my last comment, but totally forgot. Sorry about the rudeness!
^_^
My first thought is the Bog of Eternal Stench as well but then I also thought “Is that Zombies?!” Great pic though and I can’t wait for the suspense of the last volume to end! (Although I will also be very sad when it does!)
I’m not so sure it could even possibly be the Bog of Eternal Stench, as none of the goblins appear to be either wretching or plugging their noses to avoid wretching.
But, could it possibly be a group of goblins (possibly including Skub’s brothers, but possibly not since they seem to have died attempting to fight the dragon in Skub’s flashback) going to some secret meeting to plot against their new evil queen?
*Reference point: In an earlier preview, Jake alluded to Skub becoming “the glue that holds the goblin factions together”- possibly meaning that he leads a rebellion of the (for lack of a better word) rebellious factions (and Spittledrum), while simultaneously acting as chef to Her Royal Moist-ness and the non-mutinous goblins?
lol…Royal Moistness…
It looks to me like The goblins got stuck right outside the morraine kingdom.
Hey, Jake! It’s been a while! Been busy at school. Oh! A new pic preview! Could it be about Skub? Or some random goblin struggle? I just got a copy of volume 3, and I can’t wait for the fourth one. Writing a new series, I see? Speaking of history, I’m planning to do something about my country’s history too. Chris has done a great job, and more beautiful drawings as I turn the pages. :3
