If Jareth and Sarah don’t end up together I will be extremly dissapointed – we’ve only waited for years to see it.
Agreed, kate! Her’es hoping that the prophecy about true love’s kiss from volume two is refering to them! Or maye Toby and Moppet? Or maybe both??
Anyway, I see that the final chapter fo volume 4 is titled “as the world falls down”! Let’skeep our fingers crrossed!!

And I really hope that the “true love’s kiss” part of the prophesy doesn’t refer to Toby and Moppet because technically she’s part of his sister and that would just be creepy if he fell in love with a piece of his sister! >.< But I would so love to see Jareth and Sarah get together…. *dreamy*

I really hope the prophecy pertains to sarah and jareth, if it was toby and moppet it might be either disturbing or sad. Shes her own entity but essentially shes part of his sister, and if he falls in love with her and then she goes back inside sarah then itll be a little too sad an ending, and very reminiscent of saying farewell to certain characters in kingdom hearts 2. I didnt realize how good this manga was till i got parts 2 and 3, but im glad that i bought the 1st when it came out then waited till a month before the 4th to get the others, not so painful this way.
Does anyone thing the labyrinth will change for the better if jareth gets sarah and is happy and powerful again? judging from its complexities it could certainly do with a spring cleaning
and does anyone else notice that the book is set 13 years later and this is actually 13 years later from when the film aired, which means it was fully intended to be stretched out this long. Thats some planning Jake

I have a question for you Mr. Forbes, the demons in the prison scene with Drumlin and Candlewic, there from a movie I watched along time ago with a soldier in a haunted house. The soldier was the hero in the movie. I can’t think of the movie’s name, but I remember the sack used to capture these three evil demons. Did you add this in because it was a favorite movie of yours? Or just something for fun? I know the soldier’s sack was magical and the demons playing cards were caught by drinking too much wine. Anyway I was just curious. Thanks
Autumn, The movie you’re referring to is actually an episode of the Storyteller TV series from the Jim Henson company called “The Soldier and Death.” And yes, the devils in Return to Labyrinth are indeed an homage to that episode. Good catch! If you haven’t seen the Storyteller lately, I recommend checking it out again. If you have Netflix, you can stream any of the episodes on demand. Aside from the first series of fairy tales stories, Henson also did a series based on the Greek Myths. The first series was narrated by John Hurt, the latter by Michael Gambon.
thanks. I found the Storyteller on Youtube and saw the clip. I had seen it before, but I couldn’t remember the name. I haven’t watched the storyteller in a long time, but it’s on my list of movies to watch.
I soooo want Sara and Jareth to end up together.
I always thought that she was a fool for turning him down in favor of her bratty little half-brother.
If they don’t get together in this volume, Jake had better make a volume 5, and fix it.
Well, you’ll have to read vol. 4 and decide whether or not it satisfies those urges. As for a volume 5, there definitely won’t be a continuation of this particular storyline, but there’s a chance I might do another Labyrinth-related book. If and when that happens, I’ll be sure to crow about it here.

Today someone reminded me of David Bowie’s statements about Jareth. Bowie had said that Jareth rather reluctantly inherited the position of goblin king. And he would rather be somewhere like Soho so he’s making the best of things.
I think Bowie imagines Jareth as being someone who would rather live in the human world as an Avant Garde singer or something at run down obscure night clubs and happy with that humble life, but he was thrown into the role of goblin king against his will. Part of why volume 4 of Return to Labyrinth doesn’t feel right, I think, is because it contradicted Bowie’s statements on Jareth’s back story and how Bowie saw Jareth.
